French General workshop in France

We had a wonderful 2 weeks in France, with a few days in Amsterdam at the beginning and end of our trip. Lots of sunshine and a few sprinkles, warm summer weather for lots of walking and visits to farmers markets and local flea markets- so fun!

Our wonderful group at Chateau Dumas where we spent a week of stitching, shopping and dyeing. We are all wearing our "woad dyed" clothing from our day of dyeing with Denise Lambert, woad expert.
We were expertly taken care of by the amazing Meng family, Kaari, Molly and Kick and their special helpers,  Cathy and Monica.

We explored the beautiful grounds of the chateau and had our workshop upstairs in this building at the entrance surrounded by lavender and a forest of trees.

In our rooms we found a treasure bag with lots of special goods for our week of creating. Moda French General fabric to play with, a sampler to stitch of the chateau, threads, a hoop and special soap.

Everyone got to work on their fiber collages and fiber jewelry projects and in the first day of stitching so many beautiful creations appeared. The following photos are of the first days work....we didn't have time for a show and tell at the end of the week so this is a taste of what was made.

I love the wonderful creativity and variety of pieces that were made. Everyone did such different and lovely work.

This is the photo of the Chateau crew of lovely folks who took such good care of us. The food was divine and all of our needs so carefully met. Thank you to all who made our stay such an amazing experience!
