Fun at French General

We arrived at French General at 10 am and set up the tables for the workshop. Such a wonderful setting for a place to share your love of creating with like minded spirits! Fabric, beads, yarn, paper, books, ribbon...so many vintage things to take in and be surrounded by and the lovely owners, Kaari and Molly Meng and their mother Kick all had everything so artfully prepared for us with yummy snacks and drinks to keep us going for the day long class. So grateful for being able to teach a workshop here with all the inspiration from everyone and everything!

Each person had a spot at the table with a rabbit pattern and supplies to get started.

The ladies began to arrive and find a spot for the day.

I brought a few things to sell and quite a few found new homes...Thank You, every one!

Just had to share a few photos of the lovely colors of French General...

Pam Garrison's wonderful Sailor's Heart for an upcoming class.

Display of upcoming workshop samples...we have signed up for Mandy Patullo's workshop in September..appliqued piece on upper left. She is coming all the way from England to teach and I love her work so much!

Fun doll kits for sale.

Sandy and Syd at the end of the workshop....Sandy joined us on our Oaxaca trip and came to the hooking class, too. We all went to dinner at a local place called "Home" after we packed up and had a fun visit, nice meal, and yummy cake for dessert.  Special thanks to Syd for all her help with the workshop and encouraging the beginning rug hookers with their rabbit pattern. And a big Thank You to all the wonderful women who came to the rug hooking workshop and were ready try a new craft with true American folk art roots.

Off to French General for the Springtime Rabbit Workshop

I've been busy preparing to teach my rug hooked rabbit workshop at French General in Los Angeles for weeks. Drawing over 20 patterns, putting on frames, cutting over 2000 strips of wool, writing and printing directions and resources, and hooking little gift pins have been a part of the preparations. Then this week I decided to dye up some nice wool to sell in case the new hookers wanted something to take home to play with.

linen burlap patterns on wooden frames...

we will be making a little rabbit..

I hooked up another sample for color ideas...

and got the little pins ready for tomorrow. Hope to get some photos of the workshop in action.  My art pal Syd McCutcheon is coming along to help, so grateful for her company and the new hookers will be too!

Hooked up a new heart just for fun.

And a new wolf couple posed out in the front yard for a photo.

Boy bunnies went to our shop, the Art Hus in Solvang just in time for Easter baskets.

Hope you have a sunny and creative weekend!
