August

August has kept me pretty busy with something new every day. I managed to get some hooking done and put a few new things in the store in Solvang.

Just finished this funny little mermaid doll.

My friend Zoe and I went to the Long Beach International Quilt show. Lots of amazing quilts on display plus fun shopping for supplies.

The softest cashmere sweater turned into 6 elephants...this one is for the first grandchild of a friend in Florida.

Managed to get things cleaned up for dinner with friends I've known for over 40 years. We made fresh pesto with pasta and two homemade pizzas and a fresh greens salad from Classic Organic Farms. Dessert was a lemon tart I like to make from Joy of Cooking...topped with fresh raspberries.

This is the necklace I made for my friend Susan's birthday. Silver pieces from Bali, tiny ceramic beads from Mali.

Syd, Colleen and I had a couple of dye days in her backyard. We experimented with indigo and cochineal using shibori techniques in anticipation of our workshop next February in Oaxaca.

Playing with paper stitching for Mary Ann Moss's online class SEWN. I was inspired to buy the fun colorful little bowls at Anthropologie. Perfect for my morning fruit and yogurt!

Working on my little shrines for a show at Art From Scrap in October with Colleen and Syd.
enjoying getting back into my little art studio....the cats love to come visit and take naps while I work and listen to music. They have their own little kitty door that Dennis built into the front of the studio.

My shelf space at the Art Hus in Solvang. Have to keep it stocked for the summer visitors!

And I've loved being able to cool off in our wonderful ocean close by on the hot summer days.
So refreshing...sometimes I just stop by for a quick dip after errands and  before heading home up the mountain.
Hope you are having a creative summer filled with farmers markets, friends, and good food.
